Brittany. France. The land of wizards
The typical photo portrait of Brittany looks like a land of frosty dunes, infinite expanses, ships and countless lighthouses. But Brittany is presented by picturesque farmers’ houses and majestic medieval castles as well. And of course it is the land of different fairy-tales, stories and legends known all over the world. Even today the Bretons believe that they can find a dwarf or hidden treasuries under a dolmen or a menhir. Many famous characters lived or visited Brittany: Gargantua, Sir Lancelot, Bluebeard. Tristan and Isolde found their final abode in these parts. A legendary Breton forest Brocéliande is a homeland of the most powerful wizard ever - Merlin and his beloved huntress Viviane.
By the way, the Merlin’s tomb is no less popular than the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem. Every year tourists bring there a great number of notes with prayers that is the evidence of their belief in Merlin’s power, even after his death. Besides, the legend says that there is a pond with a sumptuous crystal palace on its bottom.
